Saint Lucia Cruise Port is moving forward on the development at the Soufriere Waterfront to position Saint Lucia as a must-visit cruise destination. On Thursday April 17th, 2025, General Manager, Mr. Lancelot Arnold, Operations Manager, Mr. Jahkim Daniel and Marketing and Communications Manager, Ms. Racquel Preville from Saint Lucia Cruise Port (SLCP) along with representatives from Caribbean Construction Group met with key stakeholders in Soufriere to present the final plans for the waterfront. Lead architect, Mr. Jamal Francis, from The Design House, gave detailed insight into the design and final proposed look for the redevelopment. The proposed designs seek to transform the Soufriere Waterfront with the creation of a boardwalk, amphitheater, and erection of a statue to honor our Olympic champion Julien Alfred while maintaining the unique cultural aspects of the Sulphur City.
Stakeholders in attendance included representatives from the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF), Soufriere Marine Management Authority (SMMA), Piton Management Authority (PTA), taxi operators, local restaurant and business owners and the Soufriere Vendor’s Association. The attendees provided positive feedback on the proposed plans and eagerly await the upcoming development and the long term benefits to the local economy and people of Soufriere. During the 2024/2025 cruise season the town of Soufriere received a total of 69 vessels to its shores with two high point days between January and March with up to four vessels making anchorage in one day. Guests of luxury cruise lines such as the Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection and Emerald Cruises remain enthralled by the charming costal city, local cuisine, culture, and rich history.
Lancelot Arnold stated, “The town of Soufriere is indeed a gem of Saint Lucia, and efforts are being made to ensure that the unique ambience and culture of Soufriere is maintained while we work together to improve the infrastructure and ease of doing business within the community.”
Upon completion of all construction and improvements to the Soufriere Waterfront, the management and maintenance of the new facilities will remain under the jurisdiction of the SRDF and the Government of Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia Cruise Port remains committed to the development of the community of Soufriere. Recently, the company made a $10,000 contribution to Soufriere Jazz to assist the SRDF with stimulating the local economy in support of Soufriere business owners.
Saint Lucia Cruise Port will begin construction this year with a tentative date of completion by the end of 2026.
