Barcelona is one of Europe’s leading tourist destinations, offering a rich combination of historic, cultural and natural attractions. Barcelona Cruise Port is ideally positioned to serve cruise visitors exploring the city and the wider region of Catalonia, providing a gateway to the region’s diverse experiences.
Barcelona Cruise Port combines extensive industry expertise with a strong commitment to passenger service, operational efficiency and safety. In 2026, Barcelona Cruise Port has received approval to develop a new sustainable Terminal C at Adossat Wharf. The project represents a planned investment of €104.5 million, including more than €50 million for the construction of a new 11,253 m² cruise terminal. Designed to enhance the passenger experience and operational efficiency, the facility will feature solar power generation and onshore power supply (OPS) infrastructure, enabling cruise vessels to connect to the electricity grid while at berth.
The operational needs of cruise lines and their passengers remain central to the port’s management. Highly trained personnel, robust security procedures and close collaboration with the authorities and security forces underpin safe and reliable operations. Barcelona Cruise Port implements the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and complies with applicable EU regulations, maintaining high standards of safety and security across its cruise operations.
In 2014, Global Ports Holding acquired the majority of Creuers, and became the largest cruise port operator in the world. With the new terminal development, Barcelona Cruise Port’s concession has been extended until 2050, with the option to extend it until 2053.
Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is a leading tourism destination and one of the most popular cruise ports in Europe. The city provides a unique experience to visitors, with a pleasant climate, vibrant cultural scene, fine shopping, rich gastronomy and warm, friendly locals who are always keen to welcome visitors. That’s why Barcelona was nominated by National Geographic Magazine as one of the world’s ten must-see cities.
