Located 620 km off the west coast of Africa, Cape Verde’s Mindelo Cruise Port on São Vicente Island is the gateway to the Twin Island of São Vicente and Santo Antão, offering travelers a vibrant introduction to this unique archipelago. Strategically positioned at the crossroads of major maritime routes, it is a key stop on global cruise itineraries, linking Northern Europe, transatlantic voyages, and West Africa. The Twin Island experience blends São Vicente’s culture, beaches, and gastronomy with Santo Antão’s lush mountains and rugged landscapes, creating a rich and diverse journey.
The Mindelo Cruise port features two berths measuring 400 meters in length, with depths varying from 9,5 to 11 meters, allowing it to accommodate two cruise ships simultaneously. The newly built, modern passenger terminal spans 900 square meters and is designed to provide efficient operations, while a 6,150 square meters intermodal area is dedicated to parking for both heavy and light passenger vehicles.
Beyond São Vicente, Santo Antão, the “farm island,” offers a striking contrast with lush valleys, dramatic peaks, and a deep-rooted agricultural tradition. With two berths of 115m and 135m, which together total 250 meters of dockablepier, Santo Antão is well-equipped to welcome cruise ships, allowing visitors to explore its scenic trails, charming villages, and sustainable farming practices. By sourcing fresh produce from Santo Antão, cruise ships support the local economy while providing passengers with an authentic taste of the island’s flavors and hospitality.
In 2025, Mindelo Cruise Port joined the Global Ports Holding network through a partnership with ENAPOR – Ports of Cabo Verde (National Company for Port Administration in Cabo Verde). GPH will provide consultancy expertise and operational support to ensure the terminal operates in line with global best practices, further enhancing the Twin Island Destination’s appeal as a must-visit cruise destination.
